Time’s a-wasting, so straight to the point . . .

Another CAMA all-star jam is headed your way, bringing together the best Vietnam has to offer – live electropunk mayhem from CAMA stalwarts THE DIGITAL OFFENSIVE, bass-heavy gut-churning goodness from HCMC import DJ JASE, plus for the first time ever Messrs. FUGU & MICMAC [from HCMC outfit Jetlag] debut their scorching music and visuals in the capital . . . damn!

All this plus a healthy dose of funky tomfoolery from the usual CAMA idiots can only mean one thing – ringing ears and bandaged feet . . . get it while it’s hot people and send this Hanoi solar year nicely into oblivion…

What? a farewell 2007, make friends with your neighbour Hanoi special

Where? Nha San Ben Ho, Bo De, Long Bien, Hanoi – turn right at the end of Chuong Duong bridge, drive 400m and turn right again into Bo De street (it’s where the Petrolimex petrol station is – watch for the sign)

When? saturday, dec. 15 – from 8pm til they shut us down

Tix? 100k at the door (inc. two drinks)

And just to get them toes a-tappin’ . . .

those damn kids are at it again

and

bad guys do it best

Get ready people, it’s coming – watch this space for more details . . .

Uh-huh . . . we back with some mo’ trouble for your earholes . . .

This time however, we’re getting all international on your ass, with everyone’s favourite bleep merchants Stylish Nonsense coming all the way from Bangkok for a night of noise making here in Hanoi.

Add to that the brand-spanking-new sounds of The Digital Offensive, the Remedy flying up from HCMC to spin some Thai indie classics, and the usual idiots ready to push the CAMA Sound Sytem to warp speed and beyond, and you know you’re in for trouble.

In fine CAMA tradition, we’re doing some more venue experimentation for this one, with the festivities taking place just across the Chuong Duong Bridge at Nha San Ben Ho – see ze map below for details.

And a CAMA post wouldn’t be a CAMA post without some bangingness now would it?

So . . .

some tasty electro nonsense . . .

PLUS

the cover you’ve been waiting for . . .

AND

20 min of pure brainfuckery auf deutschland

damn

where it’s at

Where? Nha San Ben Ho, Bo De, Long Bien, Hanoi – turn right at end of Chuong Duong bridge, drive 400m and turn right again into Bo De street.

When? Music starts at 8pm. No excuses for being stylishly late no matter how nonsensical you are.

Check out this week’s timeout for a full writeup by cama’s favourite inkstained rockpig kjartan hallibut.

Cheers also to the good people at the new hanoian and pittstop works for their ongoing support – love your work!

Yes yes, that’s right people, we’re gearing up for another night of trouble and strife on the Red River.

With Hanoi punk rock institution The Offensive reforming (as ‘The Defensive’) for one night only, special guest DJs The Remedy and DJ Jase flying in from HCMC, and the usual serving of dirty electro trouble from the CAMA Sound System, this is set to be another night to remember.

‘But where is it’ we hear you ask? Tre Place is right on the Red River, just past the Lac Long Quan (UNIS/Ciputra) turnoff – head straight up the dike road from town and look for the bamboo grove on your right. It’s a stunning setting for a night of outdoor midsummer madness and we’ve got the place to ourselves from 7 til 4, so get in early and make the most of it.

And just to get you juiced up . . .

some nastiness from plus move

and a mashup to make your brain melt . . .

ouch

ok, so we got all excited about this blog thing for a while an then got distracted by the business of life in meatspace – the minsk rally, bia hoi, the joys of summer, that kind of thing . . .

but having received a wake-up call from our collective unconcious, the time has come for us to spring back into action and start delivering on all the mindbending and bootyshaking we were created to bring to the world . . .

SO – we back, we bad, we CAMA . . . watch this space ;)

oh – and . . .

something to remember

AND

why you missed us x

“I have wanted to give Iraq a lesson in democracy—because we’re experienced with it, you know. And, in democracy, after a hundred years, you have to let your slaves go. And, after a hundred and fifty years, you have to let your women vote. And, at the beginning of democracy, is that a bit of genocide and ethnic cleansing is quite okay.”

– Kurt Vonnegut Jr. – 1922-2007 – R.I.P.

Prophet, humanist and angry old man Kurt Vonnegut died this week, aged 84.

See his obituary in the New York Times here.

Our world will be a lesser place without him.

and you thought you had a hard weekend . . .

“It comes wrapped in red foil and purple tissue, this intricate figurine molded in the form of a Japanese demon, with clawed feet, a mane of fire and a thick tongue jutting from a bloodthirsty smirk. Transparent, the size of a child’s fist, it looks like a tiny ice carving or a statuette of glass. It is neither. In fact, it is 25 grams (a little less than one ounce) of nearly 100 percent pure crystallized methamphetamine hydrochloride . . .”

now we didn’t say anything, but a certain pair of gentlemen are having a shindig this saturday and, what with all the special people like paul and kate in town, and the imminent arrival of that allan bloke and cyclone fabian set to blow in any moment, seriously, the people of CAMA are all so juiced up with excitement that it’s running down our legs . . .

so just to get you warmed up, a sneak peek at the antics the soundsystem is planning for saturday night:

party & bullshit (ratatat remix)

otanjyo-bi Omedetou (mr brown’s wasabi remix)

and finally, everyone’s favourite dubsteb and dancehall freakmachine the remedy flys out of the capital to start a new life in hcmc tonight – so in his honour, a dizzee rascal refix:

stand up tall (starkey remix)

So, a little bit of history here:

Released back in 1997, Carmageddon (or ‘the game that sounds alot like this blog but has nothing to do with it’) was loosely based on the 1975 ‘cult classic’ movie Death Race 2000 Starring Sylvester Stallone and David Carradine. One of the first 3d driving games, this self-described ‘racing game for the chemically imbalanced’ was also one of the first games to centre largely around running over innocent bystanders . . . mmmm . . .

Now of course the good people of cama would never stoop to playing such soul-destroying poison, but if we did, this is the kind of crazy Knight Rider zombie shit we’d be listening to while we did:
